Mushroom Cultivation Workshop

  • GROW Farm Barnet Lane London, England, N20 8AZ United Kingdom (map)

Time: 11am - 2pm

How much? £15-£25

Join us for an immersive journey into the enchanting realm of mushrooms at our upcoming workshop. Delve into their often overlooked yet pivotal role in nurturing a thriving ecosystem while discovering the art of cultivating edible mushrooms.

Hosted at GROW, a pioneering educational charity nestled within the serene landscapes of The Totteridge Academy in Barnet, this event promises an engaging exploration. We'll embark on a guided farm tour, seeking out wild mushrooms along the way, before transitioning indoors for the main workshop.

The session begins with a enlightening overview of mushrooms, mycelium, and their fascinating life cycles. From there, immerse yourself in hands-on activities, meticulously guiding you through the process of cultivating Oyster and King Oyster mushrooms. Together, we'll craft mushroom growing kits to take home, equipped with comprehensive care instructions.

As part of the experience, engage in a woodfired pizza-making workshop outdoors on the farm, where mushrooms, while optional, come highly recommended as a delectable topping. For this segment, we'll gather in a sheltered outdoor space, so do dress warmly and layer up with hats, scarves, and gloves to stay cozy.

Facilities on-site include a compost toilet amidst the farm's natural surroundings, as well as a disabled-friendly toilet within the school building, ensuring comfort throughout the workshop.
